This skill is no longer available upstream. Our re-check on Aug 10, 2026 couldn't find it any more (SKILL.md not found in repo tree). The test below is what we measured on Jul 31, 2026 and we're leaving it up as a record — but there is nothing left to install, so we've removed the command.

Both SKILL.md and scripts/search.sh fetch HTTP 200 and the frontmatter parses with name+description. I ran search.sh in a temp dir on this macOS host: every query (duckduckgo, bing, baidu) died with "Error: Invalid input after sanitization" because sanitize_input's sed pattern \x{4e00}-\x{9fff} is GNU/Perl syntax that BSD sed rejects as "invalid character range" — despite the frontmatter claiming os: darwin. Simulating the Linux path by manually encoding and curling Bing, the strip-tags pipeline returned raw CDATA and window._G config blobs, not readable results (the bing function has no result filter at all). Docs also advertise a nonexistent "clawhub install" and a tarball absent from the repo, and oversell darwin support and "command injection protection".

Scored on four weighted criteria — install, triggering, output vs. baseline, docs. How scoring works

  • Installs cleanly 5/5
  • Triggers reliably 5/5
  • Output vs. baseline 2/10
  • Docs & honesty 2/5

What Curl Search does

A bash script (scripts/search.sh) that runs web searches by curling Baidu, Google, Bing, or DuckDuckGo and stripping HTML from the response. Intended to trigger when a user asks to search, look up, or query something online without a dedicated search API. On macOS its input-sanitization step fails outright, and on Linux it returns raw HTML noise rather than clean results.

How to install Curl Search

Nothing to install: the source repository no longer has this skill. If the author brings it back, our daily re-check will pick it up and the command will reappear here.

Commands — how to trigger Curl Search

  • /curl-search Curl-based web search script; fails on macOS, returns raw HTML noise on Linux

It also activates on plain-language prompts like these:

  • Search the web for this term using curl
  • Look up recent news via DuckDuckGo
  • Query Baidu and Google for this topic

Frequently asked questions

The SKILL.md format is native to Claude (Claude Code, Desktop, claude.ai). The instructions inside adapt to other assistants: Cursor rules, GitHub Copilot instructions, Windsurf rules, Custom GPTs, AGENTS.md for OpenAI Codex, and GEMINI.md for Google Gemini CLI — our conversion guides cover each, and the free converter on the tools page does the wrapping for you.
