This skill is no longer available upstream. Our re-check on Aug 10, 2026 couldn't find it any more (repo unreachable/deleted). The test below is what we measured on Jul 25, 2026 and we're leaving it up as a record — but there is nothing left to install, so we've removed the command.

This is a safety-positive gate, the opposite of self-escalation - it forces an AskUserQuestion approval on every invocation and never auto-approves. But it only works inside the full craft plugin: its gate-toggle step calls ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/hooks/scripts/update-global-state.sh, and copied out as a bare skill that env var is unset and the script errors 'Error: .craft directory not found'. There is also no write-blocking hook in a standalone install, so the gate it opens and closes governs nothing. Real install path is the plugin marketplace ('claude plugin marketplace add drobins25/craft'), not a skill-dir copy.

Scored on four weighted criteria — install, triggering, output vs. baseline, docs. How scoring works

  • Installs cleanly 3/5
  • Triggers reliably 4/5
  • Output vs. baseline 4/10
  • Docs & honesty 4/5

What Craft: Write Approval Gate does

A safety skill for the craft plugin that forces an AskUserQuestion approval before the agent writes files outside .craft/, creating scoped approval tasks and toggling a bash-controlled write gate. Triggers when craft's write hook blocks an edit or the agent is about to modify project source. It is plugin infrastructure, not a standalone artifact producer.

How to install Craft: Write Approval Gate

Nothing to install: the source repository no longer has this skill. If the author brings it back, our daily re-check will pick it up and the command will reappear here.

Commands — how to trigger Craft: Write Approval Gate

  • /craft-approve Mandatory user-approval gate before file writes in the craft dev harness

It also activates on plain-language prompts like these:

  • Ask me before you write any files outside the project scope
  • Gate all file writes behind my approval in this session
  • The write hook is blocking you, get my approval to proceed
