⚠ This skill is no longer available upstream. Our re-check on Aug 10, 2026 couldn't find it any more (repo unreachable/deleted). The test below is what we measured on Jul 20, 2026 and we're leaving it up as a record — but there is nothing left to install, so we've removed the command.
Ran it against the repo's own 270-line CLAUDE.md fixture: the skill produced a 138-line main file (under its 200 target) plus 171 lines of verbatim .claude/rules sub-docs, and all eight probed detail strings survived, from the compose password to the deploy poll interval to the AWS/SendGrid key placeholders. A no-skill baseline pass hit 66 lines but only by summarizing, silently dropping those same specifics (POSTGRES_PASSWORD, wait-on health URL, AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY, SendGrid key). The skill's zero-information-loss claim is the real, measurable edge, and it ships a genuine eval harness with fixtures and assertions rather than just prose.
Scored on four weighted criteria — install, triggering, output vs. baseline, docs. How scoring works
- Installs cleanly 5/5
- Triggers reliably 5/5
- Output vs. baseline 8/10
- Docs & honesty 5/5
What Claude MD Optimizer does
Detects and slims down bloated agent instruction files (CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, copilot-instructions.md) by extracting reference content verbatim into the format's native sub-doc mechanism and replacing it with a rich inline synopsis plus link. Triggers on requests to optimize/reduce/shrink an over-long agent instructions or context file.
How to install Claude MD Optimizer
Nothing to install: the source repository no longer has this skill. If the author brings it back, our daily re-check will pick it up and the command will reappear here.
