How websites help each other grow: why we joined Satelo
Getting a small website noticed is hard: ads are expensive, and arranging guest posts by email takes forever. We connected skillproof.dev to Satelo, a service where websites promote each other with articles. Here is how it works and who it is for.
The idea in two sentences
A site owner adds a website, Satelo scores it using open data and matches it with sites of a similar level and topic. The sites then exchange articles in circles: the first writes about the second, the second about the third, the third about the first. There are no direct “you link me, I link you” swaps, which search engines treat as manipulation.
How a website is scored
Satelo computes a Quality Score from 0 to 100: popularity in open top-site rankings, presence in the Common Crawl web index, domain age, page speed and technical health. A brand-new site with no history scores low; nothing is inflated. You can check any website for free, without signing up, on the Quality Score checker.
What a website gets
- Mentions on relevant sites with real readers, not on link farms.
- Satellites ◉, the internal currency: hosting an article earns ◉, which pay for articles about your own site. The price of an article grows with the Quality Score; a new site starts at 1 ◉.
- Automatic publishing: the WordPress plugin places articles with formatting, images and an SEO description. Untick “auto-placement” to approve each article manually.
- Honest labelling: partner content is marked and links get rel="sponsored", as Google’s guidelines require.
Why it is useful for AI websites too
Readers discover a project through articles on closely related sites, and AI assistants and search engines are more likely to mention brands that independent sources write about. For a small AI site it is a way to earn its first mentions without an ad budget.
How to start
- Check your site at satelo.io/check.
- Sign up and add the site in the dashboard.
- Install the plugin or connect the site via the API, and the first articles start arriving automatically.
We tried it on skillproof.dev and are sharing the experience in case it helps you too.
