How to get your first readers for a site built with Claude skills

Claude skills make it easy to ship a site in a weekend: a landing page, a blog, docs and a pricing table can all come out of one long session. The hard part starts the day after launch. A new domain has no readers, no links and no history, so search engines and AI assistants have no reason to show it yet.

Why a new site stays invisible

Search engines rank pages they can trust, and trust comes from signals that take time: other sites mentioning you, real visitors, and a domain that has been around for a while. AI assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude lean on the same open web when they recommend tools, so a site nobody writes about rarely appears in their answers either.

That means the first goal is not traffic. It is a handful of honest mentions on relevant sites with real readers.

Three things that work in the first month

  • Write one genuinely useful page. A checklist, a comparison or a small free tool that solves a narrow problem gets linked far more often than a homepage.
  • Show up where your audience already is. Answer questions in communities, publish a short build log, and list the project in directories that fit it.
  • Trade value with sites of your size. Small sites can feature each other through partner articles, as long as the content is useful and clearly labelled.

Measure where you start

Before you ask anyone for a mention, check where your site stands today. A free Quality Score check shows how a site looks from the outside: popularity signals, link graphs, domain age, content and technical health. A brand-new site honestly scores close to zero, which is a useful baseline rather than a verdict.

Partner articles without link schemes

Direct link swaps between two sites are exactly what search engines treat as manipulation. A safer pattern is a circle: site A writes about B, B about C, and C about A, with every article marked as partner content and links using rel="sponsored". Satelo automates this circle for sites of a similar level and topic, and its WordPress plugin or API feed publishes the articles on the host site.

Whatever route you choose, the rule is the same: publish something a reader would be glad to find, and the mentions will start to compound.
